A Bloomin' Onion

I made this pin cushion a couple months ago. And I'm just getting around to posting the photo for you.

The top is made from a big flower made from a wool blanket. When I first made the flower, I didn't know what I would use it for, I was just playing around and trying something new I had seen in a tutorial.

I didn't know that when I put it on top of a pin cushion it would remind me of the big ole Bloomin' Onion that you get deep fried at the county fair!

It's at a shop in White Bear Lake. :-(

But I'm going to try to make some more with spring colors!

Why The Lavendar Tree?

Where did The Lavendar Tree come from? Well, let me explain.

LAVENDAR: I've always had a purple passion. I think it arrived the day I was born. It was only natural that purple came into play somewhere in "my name".

I like the way "lavender" sounds - but for some reason, I think everyone else spells it wrong and it really should be spelled "lavendar". :-)

TREE: My grandmother was an incredible fiber artist - I believe way before the words "fiber artist" ever existed. She was an extremely talented quilter, knitter, crocheter and could embroider like no one's business. She had a talent for the satin stitch to die for! My grandma helped encourage my passion for crafting and stitching when I was very young.

I fondly recall one sunshiny day, standing at my grandma's kitchen window and seeing the tree leaves sway back and forth in her orchard. She said the leaves were "waving" at us. I loved that. (Note: I have found that birch trees make the happiest wavers!)
