Martin Luther King Jr Day

Today we honor Martin Luther King Jr.

Schools are closed. Post offices are closed. Office buildings are closed. But thankfully, our minds are not closed.

Fortunately for me, I'm able to honor it at home so I don't have to step outside in our extremely cold, 11 degrees BELOW zero temperature. I'm one of those lucky Americans who gets the day off work.

I'm going to take some time today and ponder this awesome Martin Luther King Jr quote.

I'm up at 2:05 am on January 1 - not because I've been celebrating - but because I've been sick. Cold/flu. Yuck. I haven't been this sick in years - it's going on day four now - and now I remember why I don't like to be sick! Here's to a healthy new start to the new year!

If you are in the area, Cafe Wren, in Luck, Wisconsin is having their annual holiday sale this weekend and next. It's always a fesitve gathering of very talented artists selling some wonderful products just in time for the holidays (or for yourself!).

Today is Father's Day. You'd think I'd post a photo of my beautiful father. I thought about it - but then decided instead to post a little snapshot to give a glimpse of how I feel about him - today and always.

I love you dad. Thank you for everything you did for me, our family, and everyone who's life you touched by being wonderful you.

Happy Mother's Day

I'm sad today because I don't have my mom or grandma here to say Happy Mother's Day to in person - but I know they can still hear me.

But I'm joyful today because I am the mom of a wonderful son.

A few weeks ago I ran across this cute card he made for me years ago when he was just a young lad. Right now he's a 22 year old lad.
