A Cup of.....Geranium?

I wanted to make a few little gifts for an upcoming gathering I'll be hosting at my home. I had to put my thinking cap on because funds are pretty tight right now so I wanted to do something nice but frugal...inexpensive...well, cheap.

Over Easter weekend, my sister and I went to a greenhouse spring open house and I picked up several small, but very pretty colored geraniums. So I knew I wanted to do something with them.

I had hoped to find a variety of mismatched vintage tea cups and/or sugar bowls hanging around my house to plant them in. Unfortunately (and hard to believe!), I couldn't find what I was looking for in all my collections of...stuff.

So I headed to my favorite shopping outlet - the thrift store. I found 4 clear coffee cups. Not exactly what I was thinking of, but I thought I'd give them a try. They were, after all, only 50 cents each.

I decided that wool would definitely have to be involved - so I cut some strips of lime green sweater - and sewed on one of my bottle cap buttons. I cut a small slit in the wool for the buttonhole and shizam - I'm on a roll!

I got one geranium planted last night.

And only 3 to go!
