Upcoming Shows

I've been busy, busy, busy......

I've been getting ready for several shows. I still have a lot of work to do yet - so I can't talk long - but here's a peek at three shows.

I'm in love with all the small, out of the box venues that are popping up for us fabulous artists!

I live in Rockford, Illinois and our downtown area is becoming SO alive with artists' markets. I also am a volunteer curator at our church where we have an art group and gallery...

That is awesome! I do think you are so right - people are turning around to a new appreciation of handcrafted, unique art. Love it - and best of luck to you! :-)

Why The Lavendar Tree?

Where did The Lavendar Tree come from? Well, let me explain.

LAVENDAR: I've always had a purple passion. I think it arrived the day I was born. It was only natural that purple came into play somewhere in "my name".

I like the way "lavender" sounds - but for some reason, I think everyone else spells it wrong and it really should be spelled "lavendar". :-)

TREE: My grandmother was an incredible fiber artist - I believe way before the words "fiber artist" ever existed. She was an extremely talented quilter, knitter, crocheter and could embroider like no one's business. She had a talent for the satin stitch to die for! My grandma helped encourage my passion for crafting and stitching when I was very young.

I fondly recall one sunshiny day, standing at my grandma's kitchen window and seeing the tree leaves sway back and forth in her orchard. She said the leaves were "waving" at us. I loved that. (Note: I have found that birch trees make the happiest wavers!)
